SHELTER MEDICINE AND/OR COMMUNITY MEDICINE POSITION IN NORTHWEST OHIO
Toledo Humane Society, Northwest Ohio’s largest and oldest nonprofit animal shelter, is seeking either a full-time or part-time veterinarian to help us grow our programs and services.
Enjoy the best of both worlds by practicing shelter medicine and/or community medicine with a
collaborative, supportive, fun team. Our veterinarians and RVT’s are passionate, dedicated, and
caring individuals who work hard, have a lot of fun, and make a difference for animals every day.
Our shelter is well-equipped, with digital and dental x-rays, surgery suite with two tables, and two
dental machines. Two DVM’s work together three days per week. We enjoy practicing comprehensive medicine and treating challenging/complex medical and surgical cases, and refer to
specialists when needed.
In April of 2022, we opened a newly remodeled facility to provide low-cost medical and surgical
care for owned pets in a resource-challenged community. New team members will have the
opportunity to help us shape the direction of this new clinic and have a profound impact on the
families in this community. With the support of grants and donors, this first of its kind facility in
Toledo allows us to provide quality care for pets even when their owners are financially challenged.
We are looking for team members who are excited to practice veterinary medicine and are
interested in continuing to develop their medical and surgical skills. Previous experience in HQHV
surgery, forensics, or orthopedics is a plus, or interest in learning in these areas. New grads are
welcome to apply - we are committed to mentoring and supporting professional and personal
growth, and we value your personal time. Our workday allows for the flexibility to support your
personal life – for example making it to your kid’s soccer game or dentist appointment – we figure
out how to make it work for everyone.
Full-time employment is 36 hours (four days)/week, part-time can be anywhere from one to three
days per week. We offer a competitive salary. Full-time employees enjoy generous benefits
including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, generous
401(k) match, EAP, PTO and paid holidays. Both full and part-time DVM’s receive an annual
allowance for CE, professional memberships, and licensing. Working for a nonprofit may qualify
you for student loan forgiveness.
For a full job description or to submit your resume, please contact Anna Brown, DVM at abrown@toledohumane.org or 419-891-0705, ext. 343
